Nicki Minaj One-hour Special on E!

Thanks to an hour special that aired on the E! entertainment channel last night we got a closer look at Young Money superstar Nicki Minaj.

In the document Nicki Minaj whose full name is Onika Tanya Maraj shared childhood memories, allowed her parents to appear on camera and give more details about her past and her mentor Lil Wayne also made a cameo to explain the rapper’s rise to stardom.

Nicki Minaj who grew up in the Caribbean said she was never aware that she was poor. She said:

“Growing up in Trinidad, I didn’t know that we were poor, ten people living in a three-bedroom home and all the dogs and cats my grandmother had, none of the seemed really abnormal.”

The “Super Bass” singer’s father Robert Maraj, also shared few anecdotes about her daughter doing mischief:

“She used to steal the car all of the time. And she didn’t have her license yet.”

The Pink Friday star spoke about her feud with Lil Kim, introduced few of her childhood friends, teachers who marked and molded her during her passage at LaGuardia High School.
